Chances are you found this forum because you animate with pivot. But, for those that are unfamiliar with what Pivot is and how to use it, here's some FAQ's:
What is Pivot?
Pivot is a program created by Peter Bone in 2004 which allows its users to create unique stick figure based animations.
How much does Pivot cost, and is it safe for my computer?
Pivot is 100% Free, and safe. Note: During install there will be offers to download other things, those too are safe and not necessary for pivot.
Where can I download Pivot?
You can find the latest version of Pivot at their official website here.
How do I create an animation?
When you start Pivot, it automatically starts a new animation. Before you start trying to make complex animations, play around a bit. I suggest doing a simple wave just to test the waters. Move the joints little by little, clicking next frame after each movement was completed. Hit play when you're done, and watch your animation come alive!
How do I add pictures to my animations?
There are 2 ways to go about doing this. First, as a background via File<Load Background. As you may suspect, you cannot move your background. Secondly, as a Sprite Image via File<Load Sprite Image. With Sprites, you can raise or lower their layer, resize, and rotate via the red dot.
Can I create my own backgrounds and sprites to use?
Absolutely! Paint works great for creating simple sprites and backgrounds! Note: When creating Sprites, the lower left pixel is the color pivot changes to transparent. So, if you leave a white line at the bottom of your image, pivot will remove all the white pixels.
How do I save my animation?
If you want to save your animation in order to reopen it later, you'll have to save it as a .piv file via File<Save Animation. Once you're finished with your animation, click File<Export Animation to save it as a .gif or .avi.
